15/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – According to the appraisal mission for the second round of the presidential elections in Poland sent by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, “voting was well organised in all polling stations visited” on 12 July (https://bit.ly/30c10pY ). This conclusion is similar to the one published at the end of the first round. However, in these two Declarations, the PACE mission deplores “increasing confrontation and polarisation” during “negative” election campaigns and the lack of televised debate between the two rounds. It also notes that “there was no change in the effective role of the National Broadcasting Council” and recalls that the active involvement of senior officials in the promotion of candidates via social media can be qualified as “misuse of administrative resources”, according to the guidelines of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe.
