15/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – “It is clear that we will not be rid of Covid-19 until there is a vaccine, a clear plan, and funding”, said Rik Daems, President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, today. According to him, the discussion over the EUR 750 billion recovery fund, which will take place at the European Union Summit on 17 and 18 July, must include the financing of a Community-wide vaccination campaign. The President of PACE has called for a co-ordinated plan covering the period from 2020 to 2025, indicating which categories of people will be vaccinated and in what order; this is to be carried out in conjunction with the European branch of the World Health Organization (WHO). “The aim is to avoid internal squabbles and unnecessary political discussions, while working on the basis of scientific standards”, he said.
