14/07/2020 (Agence Europe) – The GUE/NGL group in the European Parliament announced on Tuesday 14 July the finalists for its 2020 prize for journalists and whistleblowers. The six nominees are: – Chelsea Manning, the U.S. Army’s Wikileaks whistleblower; – the international investigation that shed light on the Cum-Ex financial scandal; – journalist Glenn Greenwald; – Eileen Chubb, the British whistleblower who denounced the phenomenon of abuse in care homes; – Omar Rojas Bolaños of Colombia, who shed light on systemic extrajudicial executions in his country; – the whistleblowers of the Greek scandal involving Novartis. The prize is dedicated to the murdered Maltese journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia and Dr Li Wenliang, the Chinese ophthalmologist who told the world about the coronavirus epidemic, who has since died.
