17/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 17 June, the European Commission proposed to the Management Board of the European Monitoring Centre for Drugs and Drug Addiction (EMCDDA) that the term of office of the current Executive Director, Alexis Goosdeel of Belgium, should be renewed for a duration of 5 years, with effect from 1 January 2021. Mr Goosdeel has played an active role in the field of drugs policy for more than two decades and has in particular successfully managed to integrate twelve EU candidate countries into the work of the Centre, said the European Commission in a statement. Mr Goosdeel has worked at the EMCDDA since 1999 and became its Executive Director in 2016. (MF)
