17/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – Member States’ Ambassadors to the EU (Coreper) had a first exchange of views on the Commission’s communication aimed at creating a list of third countries whose nationals may return to the EU on 1 July (see EUROPE 12504/1). They welcomed the criteria identified as epidemiological criteria, but much work remains to be done to clarify them. In particular, Member States want a regularly updated list of countries, with the possibility of taking closure measures if the health situation deteriorates. They will continue their discussion with the ECDC on 19 June at a technical meeting with health experts. Ambassadors reiterated the objective of having this common list of countries by 1 July. So they are aiming to agree on a first list next week, says one source. (SP)
