12/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The North Atlantic Council recognised Ukraine as an ‘Enhanced Opportunities Partner’ on Friday, 12 June. With this status, the country will be offered targeted opportunities aimed at sustaining its contributions to Allied operation as well as to the NATO Response Force and NATO exercises. These opportunities include “enhanced access to interoperability programmes and exercises, and more sharing of information, including lessons learned”, the Alliance said in its communiqué, adding that this status does not prejudge the decision on Ukraine's accession to NATO. Five countries were already benefiting from this ‘Enhanced Opportunities Partners’ status: Australia, Finland, Georgia, Jordan and Sweden. (CG)
