12/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – After debating the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the European energy sector (see EUROPE 12476/5) on Tuesday 28 April, energy ministers of Member States will discuss aspects related to this sector within the context of economic recovery on Monday 15 June, as part of an informal meeting by videoconference. The discussion will focus on the recovery plan proposed by the European Commission, Next Generation EU, and, in particular, on how innovative technological solutions employed in the energy sector can benefit from the instruments of the plan. The European Commission is also expected to provide information to ministers on the state of play of National Energy and Climate Plans (NECPs) and that Lithuania is to review the state of nuclear safety in the EU's neighbourhood. Finally, the incoming German EU Council Presidency will present its work programme relating to the energy sector. (DG)
