12/06/2020 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission launched a public consultation on the ‘Renovation Wave’ initiative on Thursday 11 June, 1 month after the opening of the consultation on the roadmap regarding the initiative (see EUROPE 12484/16). Scheduled for September, the ‘Renovation Wave’ initiative will aim to stimulate the renovation of buildings in the European Union, a sector responsible for 40% of the EU's energy consumption and 36% of its greenhouse gas emissions. “The Renovation Wave will create local jobs and economic benefits all across Europe”, said European Energy Commissioner Kadri Simson, recalling that the initiative is among the priorities of the Commission's Recovery Plan in view of its potential in terms of job creation.
