07/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – Tilly Metz MEP (Greens/EFA, Luxembourg) was appointed on Wednesday 6 May as rapporteur for the opinion on the Climate Law for the European Parliament’s Committee on Transport and Tourism. “I will fight for an ambitious Climate Law! In particular, I intend to include sectoral roadmaps which, in the field of transport, will be translated into specific objectives concerning the reduction of the impact of road, air and maritime transport on climate”, she told EUROPE. Presented by the European Commission at the beginning of March (see EUROPE 12439/2), the Climate Law aims to enshrine the climate neutrality objective set for 2050 in EU law. Parliament’s rapporteur, Jytte Guteland (S&D, Sweden), is due to present her draft report on 27 May. She has already announced her support for a 65% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 (see EUROPE 12476/23). (DG)
