07/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – Initially scheduled for 1-5 June (see EUROPE 12423/17), the EU Green Week on Nature and Biodiversity will hold its high-level segment from 20-22 October in Brussels. It will highlight the contribution of biodiversity to society and the economy and the role it can play in supporting post-Covid-19 recovery, the Commission stresses. This event will be a step towards the fifteenth Conference of the Parties (COP15) to the UN Convention on Biological Diversity, which is expected to agree on the post-2020 global framework for action. This was to be held in October (Kunming, China), but has been postponed to 2021 (see EUROPE 12454/2). The Commission's presentation of the EU Biodiversity Strategy for 2030 and COP15 is expected on 20 May. (AN)
