07/05/2020 (Agence Europe) – The dialogue with stakeholders, announced when the temporary changes to banking prudential rules were presented at the end of April (see EUROPE 12476/8), is expected to take place on 28 May, Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis said at a press conference on Thursday 7 May. “The idea is to get together, financial sector, especially banking sector representatives, business organisations, especially SME organisations, consumer organisations and to discuss directly how financial sector is providing financing to European companies and households in this difficult period”, he explained. A number of good national initiatives in this area have been put in place, Mr Dombrovskis said, but some major problems have also been signalled in terms of access to bank financing for businesses and households, with banks sometimes imposing disproportionate requirements.
