EU Council extends derogation from its operating rules for one month because of COVID-19

22/04/2020 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 21 April, the Council of the EU announced that the extraordinary measures (see EUROPE 12452/19) relating to its internal operations during the COVID-19 pandemic would be continuing. In decision 2020/4301, the Council of the EU introduced a derogation from Article 12(1) of its Rules of Procedure as regards decisions to use the ordinary written procedure, where those decisions are taken by the Committee of the Permanent Representatives of the Member States. It should be noted that the derogation was due to expire on 23 April. (PH)
