12/11/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 11 November, the European Commission approved the application to add ‘Vera de Estenas’ wines from Spain to the Register of Protected Designations of Origin (PDO). The ‘Vera de Estenas’ defined geographical area is located in the territory of the municipality of Utiel, in the Spanish province of Valencia. The Estenas torrent, located between the Sierra Juan Navarro and the Magro River, gives its name to the delimited area. ‘Vera de Estenas’ wines are distinguished by an intense brilliant colour, primary aromas of ripe fruit and a beautiful harmony on the palate. This new appellation will join the 1,600 protected designations of origin already registered for wine, a list of which is available in the eAmbrosia database. (LC)
