13/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – It will be Luxembourg's Marc Angel who will replace, at the last minute, Nicolas Schmit (S&D) in the European Parliament, following the latter’s appointment to the portfolio dedicated to Employment in the next European Commission (see EUROPE 12324/1), according to the Luxembourg press on Tuesday 10 September. According to the Luxembourg newspaper Paperjam, Marc Angel (member of the Luxembourg Socialist Workers’ Party (LSAP) entered the Luxembourg Chamber of Deputies in 2004, was re-elected in 2009 and again in 2013. Since 2018, he had chaired the Parliamentary Committee on Foreign and European Affairs. It is the first time he will sit in the European Parliament. (PH)
