13/09/2019 (Agence Europe) – The economic sector related to earth observation is in robust health, with an annual growth rate of 10% over the past 2 years, according to a study published on Wednesday 11 September by the EARSC (European Association of Remote Sensing Companies). In 2018, the sector included more than 500 companies, employing more than 8,000 people and generating revenues of €1.2 billion. Microenterprises constituted the vast majority (about 350 in 2018). By way of comparison, the sector had fewer than 300 companies in 2006 with a turnover of less than €400 million. In 2018, security, defence and military activities were the main markets (35%), followed by agriculture (less than 10%).
