30/08/2019 (Agence Europe) – Estonian Kadri Simson and Romanian Ioan Mircea Pașcu, both presented to replace Commissioners Andrus Ansip and Corina Creţu respectively - both elected and sitting in the new European Parliament (see EUROPE 12295/4) - will be heard by MEPs on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 September at the European Parliament, according to information obtained on Friday 30 August. As there is no allocated portfolio, it should be the Conference of Committee Chairs who will hear the two candidates. Their nominations will be put to the vote at the first plenary session after the break, from 16 to 19 September. Mr Ioan Mircea Pașcu is expected to stay only a few weeks in the Juncker Commission, which ends its mandate on 31 October. Mrs Simson is the Commissioner Candidate presented by Estonia for the new European Commission. She will seek the Climate and Energy portfolio (see EUROPE 12309/3). (PH)
