30/08/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 30 August, the European Commission approved a Polish measure to support energy-intensive businesses. This measure, which covers the 2019-2020 period and has a provisional budget estimated at around €417 million, targets companies active in Poland in sectors facing significant electricity costs and which are particularly exposed to international competition. The aid will take the form of a partial refund of the electricity costs of the companies. The Commission has examined this measure in terms of the guidelines concerning certain State aid measures in the context of the greenhouse gas emission allowance trading scheme post-2012. Considering that the aid was in agreement with this text, that it would prevent an increase in greenhouse gas emissions and that it was proportionate, the Commission gave the green light. (LT)
