30/08/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commissioner for Social Affairs and Employment, Marianne Thyssen, will take part in the G20 ministerial meeting on social issues in Matsuyama, Japan, on 1 and 2 September. The theme of the meeting is “The Future of Work” in the world. It will address demographic issues, gender equality, new work models, but also the problems of child labour in the world, forced labour and human trafficking. The Commissioner will reaffirm the EU's commitment to multilateralism and the need to put people at the heart of the work. She will also take stock of the European Commission's progress in the social field and meet the Turkish and Spanish ministers. The ministerial meeting will end with the adoption of the ‘Matsuyama Declaration’. (PH)
