On Monday 22 July in Brussels, under the leadership of the new general rapporteur on the 2019 EU budget, John Howarth (S&D, UK), the European Parliament's Committee on Budgets discussed four draft reports on proposals to amend the EU budget for 2019.
These reports cover the first four draft amending budgets (see EUROPE 12240/10) regarding the EU budget for 2019: - budgeting for the 2018 surplus (+€1.8 billion in payments); - reinforcement of the appropriations for the Horizon 2020 and Erasmus + programmes (+€100 million in commitments, including €80 million for the Horizon 2020 research programme); - implementation of the EU Solidarity Fund for Romania, Italy and Austria (+€293.6 million in total in commitments and payments); - updating of expenditure and revenue to take into account the latest developments (decrease of €100 million in commitments and reductions in payments of €55.6 million).
These reports on the draft amending budgets will be endorsed on 2 September by the Committee on Budgets of the EU and will be voted on in Parliamentary plenary in September.
The Committee on Budgets has also made transfers concerning both the Commission and requests from other EU institutions. (Original version in French by Lionel Changeur)
