22/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – The 160,000 members of the Conservative Party were due to vote on Monday 22 July at 16:00 GMT to appoint the new British Prime Minister who will succeed Theresa May. A vote that, barring surprises, should confirm former Foreign Minister Boris Johnson, favourite against Jeremy Hunt, the current Minister of Foreign Affairs. While the results will only be released on Tuesday 23 July, two current ministers have already expressed their dissatisfaction. Philip Hammond, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, has already warned on 21 July that he will resign if Boris Johnson wins. Alan Duncan, Minister of State for Europe and the Americas, resigned on Monday 22 July. Both men reject Boris Johnson's strategy to leave the EU on 31 October, even without agreement. (SP)
