On Monday 22 July, the European Parliament's Culture and Education Committee confirmed its willingness to enter into negotiations with the EU Council on the programmes for which it is responsible: Erasmus, Creative Europe and the European Solidarity Corps.
MEPs have therefore confirmed the position taken by the former mandate on these three issues.
On Erasmus first, they voted – 27 votes for, 1 against and 1 abstention – on Milan Zver's report (EPP, Slovenia) in favour of trebling the funds dedicated to this programme, with 83% for education and training, 10.3% for youth, 2% for sport and 3.2% to cover operational costs (see EUROPE 12223/10, 12224/13).
On Creative Europe, they then supported – 27 votes for, 1 against and 1 abstention – the report prepared during the previous legislature by Silvia Costa (S&D, Italy), which calls for €2.806 billion to be set aside at constant prices to support the European cultural and creative sectors and audiovisual works (see EUROPE 12224/10).
Finally, on the European Solidarity Corps, MEPs supported by 23 votes in favour, 3 against and 2 abstentions the report by Michaela Šojdrová (EPP, Czech Republic) on this programme, which allows young people aged 18 to 30 years to participate in a range of solidarity activities through voluntary actions, internships or fixed-term employment within the EU (see EUROPE 12212/31).
