12/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – According to a European source, the Commission has undertaken to produce, in the coming weeks and before the summer break, the final version of the trade agreement with the four South American states of Mercosur, concluded on 28 June last (see EUROPE 12286/3). However, detailed market access schedules may not yet be included. Since the announcement of the closure of the negotiations, Member States, the media and other stakeholders have had the opportunity to consider only an provisional agreement. A particularly complex situation, while this agreement is already heavily criticised in the EU, in particular for the opening of European agricultural markets granted to Mercosur (see EUROPE 12291/14), as well as for its estimated environmental impact (see EUROPE 12286/4, 12288/21).
