12/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – The newly appointed Chairman of the European Parliament Committee on Constitutional Affairs (AFCO) and former Parliament President Antonio Tajani (Italy) was presented by the EPP in preparation for the elections to be held on Tuesday 16 July for the position of Chair of the Conference of Committee Chairs (CCC). The S&D will not propose any candidates, as the Social Democratic Group has taken over the position of President of the European Parliament. The vote could potentially be postponed, we are told, in the event that the Employment and Social Affairs Committee is unable to provide a Chairperson the day prior (see other news). The CCC coordinates the work of the committees. It is composed of the Chairpersons of all standing and special committees and meets on the Tuesday of each part-session in Strasbourg. (PH)
