11/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 10 July, Portugal joined the coalition of Member States that have committed themselves to creating a Quantum Communication Infrastructure (QCI) within ten years (see EUROPE 12274/13). This coalition now has 9 members: Belgium, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Spain, Hungary and now Portugal. In accordance with the declaration, launched in June at the Digital Assembly, these countries must develop, in collaboration with the European Commission, an action plan exploring the benefits and feasibility of setting up a quantum communication infrastructure in Europe.
