EU mobilises €50 million for research on artificial intelligence

11/07/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Thursday 11 July, the European Commission launched a call for proposals to create a network of centres of excellence in artificial intelligence. This network, which will be funded to the tune of €50 million, will be responsible for addressing the major scientific and technological challenges that hinder the deployment of solutions based on artificial intelligence. It will have a dual mission, namely to strengthen cooperation within the European artificial intelligence research community and to improve technological advances in the field of AI. This call for proposals is part of the Horizon 2020 work programme for the period 2018-2020. It is in addition to a previous investment of €20 million to build the AI4EU online platform, which allows the exchange of AI tools and resources across Europe. (SPj)
