18/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission published on Wednesday 17 April the results of the fourth round of talks with Chile, which took place in Santiago de Chile from 1 to 5 April 2019. It welcomes the progress made on the chapters on sanitary and phytosanitary measures and technical barriers to trade, although further discussions will be necessary on the provisions on the use of the suppliers’ declaration of conformity and on marking and labelling. The chapters on good regulatory practice, small and medium-sized enterprises, services, competition and rules of origin have also made significant progress. “Exchanges of views” to “better understand their respective proposals” took place on issues of tariff offers for goods, geographical indications, patents and regulatory data protection and subsidies.
