18/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – The partial agreement concluded with the EU Council creating the first ever Digital Europe 2021-2017 programme was approved on Wednesday 17 April by the European Parliament by 561 votes to 39 with 50 abstentions. The Digital Europe programme will invest in five key digital sectors: high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and trust, advanced digital skills and the wide-scale use and deployment of digital technologies throughout society in order to strengthen European industrial technological leadership. The funding is not part of the partial agreement. Parliament is asking for €8.2 billion as a constant price (€9.2 billion in current prices) to implement the 2021-2027 Digital Single Market Strategy.
