During third round of trade negotiations, a “mutual commitment” towards “an ambitious and comprehensive agreement” was established

18/04/2019 (Agence Europe)In the summary of the third round of talks between the EU and Australia, published on Wednesday 17 April and which took place in Canberra from 25 to 29 March, the Commission welcomes progress in all areas of the future free trade agreement. At this early stage of the talks, a lot of 'pedagogical' work has been done so far, but the Commission stresses “a common will to negotiate an ambitious and comprehensive agreement”. Some chapters saw negotiators begin to agree in principle on those parts of the text that were acceptable to both parties, specifically on trade in goods (repaired goods and the use of preferences would already have been agreed in principle). The fourth round of negotiations is expected to take place in Brussels in July. To read the Commission's report: https://bit.ly/2V7qjJm (HD)
