15/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 15 April, the European Commission, represented by Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President for Energy Union, and Miguel Arias Cañete, Commissioner for Climate Action and Energy, signed an agreement for the €214.9 million Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) grant for works for the Baltic Pipe project. The agreement was also signed by Mateusz Morawiecki, the Polish Prime Minister, and Piotr Naimski, the Polish Minister for Strategic Energy Infrastructure. This pipeline will connect Poland and Denmark with Norway, and create a new gas supply corridor in the European market. From 2022, the pipeline will be able to transport gas from the North Sea to Polish and Baltic markets and neighbouring countries. At the same time, Polish gas can be provided to the Danish and Swedish markets. (LT)
