Charter and logistics operators are quite disappointed with European Parliament vote on ‘mobility’ package I

10/04/2019 (Agence Europe)The European Association for Forwarding, Transport, Logistics and Customs Services (CLECAT) expressed disappointment in a press release after the vote of MEPs in the plenary session of the European Parliament on Thursday 4 April on the social and market aspects of the first mobility package (posting of drivers, driving time and rest periods, tachograph, cabotage and market access) (see EUROPE 12229/1). The recommendations relating to the posting of drivers are, for the organisation, “far from sufficient to guarantee a well-functioning internal market for road transport”. CLECAT also considers that the cooling-off period for cabotage makes the operation of the sector “more complex”. The organisation also regrets that MEPs voted in favour of a total ban on taking regular weekly rest periods in the cabin. (LT)
