Names of prize winners for Prize for Contemporary Architecture are known

10/04/2019 (Agence Europe)On Wednesday 10 April, the European Commission announced the prize winners of the EU Prize for Contemporary Architecture/the Mies van der Rohe Foundation Award. This competition, which takes place every two years, highlights the role played by European architects in promoting new ideas and technologies in contemporary urban development. The first prize was awarded to the transformation of 530 homes in Bordeaux (France), carried out by Lacaton & Vassal architects, Frédéric Druot Architecture and Christophe Hutin Architecture. The 2019 Emerging Architect Prize was awarded to the BAST office in Toulouse for a school canteen in the French Pyrenees. The prize, worth €60,000, is co-financed by the Creative Europe programme and the Mies van der Rohe Foundation. (SPj)
