10/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 9 April, a few days before an informal meeting of EU Member States' ministers on the cohesion policy, the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) sent ministers a letter highlighting a series of demands for the post-2020 cohesion policy. The CEMR urges them to take a position in favour of maintaining: the current budget for the next budget cycle, current co-financing, the partnership principle, the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) under the Common Provisions Regulation. It calls for a strengthening of the Interreg programme and the creation of a clear link between the future cohesion policy and Sustainable Development Goals. The CEMR also regrets that the co-legislators have not succeeded in reaching a provisional political agreement under this mandate (see EUROPE 12212/15). (PH)
