01/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European Council for Motor Trades and Repairs (CECRA) launched its manifesto for the European elections on Monday 1 April. The organisation, recalling that the sector employs nearly 3 million people in the EU, urges legislators to work to: - facilitate access to in-vehicle data; - strike a fair balance between the various actors in the automotive value chain, particularly in the car manufacturers’ distribution chains; - defend the acquis communautaire in terms of consumer protection and personal data while avoiding the creation of an unnecessary burden for SMEs; - fight against fraudsters and restore European consumer confidence (confidence in the use of automotive market practices), particularly to fight against odometer manipulation.
