01/04/2019 (Agence Europe) – Following the deadly violence and climate of tension in the Comoros pending the final results of the disputed presidential election on 24 March, the EU called, on 30 March, on the Comorian authorities and all political key players for “restraint” and for the security forces to “act in accordance with the principles of the Rule of law and with respect for human rights”. In a statement, the European External Action Service spokesperson pointed out that these elections were "shaped, according to the joint statement by the international election observation missions, by major irregularities that cast doubt on both the transparency and credibility of the election”. She added that the EU supports the call made by the African Union "for early and inclusive dialogue regarding a consensual solution to the crisis to preserve the democratic achievements and stability of the archipelago".
