01/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – Following the meeting of the ‘Eurogroup Working Group’ (EWG) of the Council of the EU, Eurogroup said on Friday, 1 March that it was in line with the European Commission's position on Slovenia's updated draft budget plan for 2019. On 27 February, the Commission considered that this new draft budget plan presented a risk of non-compliance with Ljubljana's budgetary commitments under the rules of the Stability and Growth Pact (see EUROPE 12203). According to the new budget plan submitted on 25 January and taking into account the measures adopted by the government that took office last September, the structural deficit in Ljubljana is expected to deteriorate this year by 0.1% of GDP, according to the Commission. However, the Slovenian authorities should, in principle, make a structural adjustment of 0.65% of GDP, in line with an EU Council recommendation in this respect. (LT)
