01/03/2019 (Agence Europe) – The European GNSS Agency (GSA), which is responsible for the Galileo and EGNOS space programmes, welcomed on Thursday 28 February the agreement reached the day before on the regulation establishing the 2021-2027 Space Programme. "We look forward to strengthening our work with our partners in the Commission and the European Space Agency (ESA) for more Space for Europe and more Europe in Space", it said on its Twitter account. Nevertheless, the Commission continues to cast doubt on its position on the agreement, in particular on the ability of the GSA, renamed the EU Space Programme Agency (see EUROPE 12204), to sub-delegate. The co-legislators (European Parliament and Council) remain vague, but the legislative process is currently ongoing. Member States will discuss the agreement at the meeting of the Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) on Wednesday 6 March. (PH)
