28/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – As announced, on Wednesday 27 February the Committee of Permanent Representatives of the Governments of the Member States (Coreper) endorsed the compromise text of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union on the proposal for a directive requiring service providers to appoint a legal representative within the European Union, who would be responsible for receiving and complying with European orders for the production and preservation of electronic evidence (see EUROPE 12003). According to a European source, the Permanent Representatives agreed to submit, without further amendments, the compromise text - the main points of which were detailed in EUROPE 12201 - to the European Ministers of Justice with a view to obtaining a 'general approach' on 8 March next year.
