Karima Delli (Greens/EFA, France), President of the European Parliament's Transport Committee, announced on Thursday 28 February the names of the fifty European companies qualified for the final of the second European Startup Prize for Mobility.
This prize, founded last year by Ms Delli, aims to reward European startups active in innovative and clean mobility.
Like the first awarding, which took place last year (see EUROPE 11968), the prize, which involves the Boston Consulting Group and Via ID, is supported by the European Commission and the European Parliament, as well as by several private actors. This year, Prince Albert of Monaco will be the sponsor.
570 applications were submitted between December and January by startups based all over Europe. A first pre-selection made it possible to identify 150 companies; 50 of them were chosen for the final, which will take place on 11 April in Brussels, on the basis of criteria relating in particular to innovation and ecological transition. "The aim is to bring out European leaders", Ms Delli told the press.
Ten winners will be selected and will participate in a European round to meet investors and future clients in Paris (France), Brainport (Netherlands), Frankfurt (Germany) and Barcelona (Spain). Of these ten winners, one will be directly chosen by European citizens via the prize’s Facebook platform (open voting from 28 February to 25 March).
Four of these ten winners, with the best projects, will receive specific support to develop from the Boston Consulting Group and the law firms Grimaldi Studio Legale and Parallel Avocats. (Original version in French by Lucas Tripoteau)
