EU institutions commit to conclude an agreement on transparency register as soon as possible

15/02/2019 (Agence Europe)After the third political meeting held on 13 February in Strasbourg, representatives of the Council of the EU, the European Commission and the European Parliament undertook to finalise an agreement on the transparency register (see EUROPE 12186) as soon as possible. The issue is the creation of a mandatory register (of lobbies) applicable to the three EU institutions. On 13 February, the discussions focused on the progress made by the Council and the Commission in applying the principle of meeting only lobbyists registered in the transparency register to the three institutions. The European Parliament would like the next political meeting to be held as soon as possible, in the fringes of the second European Parliament plenary session in March, for example. Discussions will continue at the technical level. (LC)
