15/02/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Friday 15 February, the permanent representatives of the Member States finally adopted, without consideration, the conclusions on the state of relations between the EU and Switzerland, which go easy on Switzerland, but remind it that without a framework agreement, there will be no further access to the single market, if not more updating of the current agreements (see EUROPE 12193). They were due to do so on Wednesday 13 February, but one delegation wished to postpone the item, dissatisfied with the overly positive wording regarding Switzerland's contribution to European migration policies (Switzerland participating, inter alia, in programmes for the resettlement of asylum seekers). However, this wording has not been changed, according to a source from the Council of the European Union. The draft conclusions were therefore adopted unaltered. EU ministers will formally approve this point at a meeting in Brussels on Tuesday 19 February. (SP)
