23/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – On Wednesday 23 December in Brussels, the Parliament’s Committee on Fisheries approved the political agreement between the institutions on a multiannual plan for the management of fish stocks in Western Waters (see EUROPE 12148). The key target species, counting for around 95% of fish landings in the area, will be managed in line with the maximum sustainable yield principle (MSY). The Parliament will endorse the compromise during the plenary session of 11 to 14 February in Strasbourg. The Council will then have to formally approve this management plan. (LC)
