23/01/2019 (Agence Europe) – With 42 votes in favour, 2 against and 1 abstention, Members of the European Parliament's Environment Committee confirmed, on Tuesday 22 January, the interinstitutional agreement reached in December on the proposal for a regulation setting performance standards for the reduction in CO2 emissions from the European fleet of new vehicles and vans after 2021. The following are planned: - a 37.5% reduction in emissions for vehicles and 31% for vans by 2030 compared to 2021; - a 15% reduction for both types of vehicles between 2025 and 2029; - a facility of incentives for the marketing of low-emission or zero emission vehicles; - measures to mitigate the social impacts of a reduction in carbon intensity. The Council had already confirmed the agreement. The European Parliament vote is scheduled for the end of March. (AN)
