27/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Monday 26 November, the EU Council approved the European Commission's proposal for a Regulation of 12 June last to include two new categories of State aid in the Regulation on the authorisation of State aid. The types of aid concerned are financing from States transiting or supported by EU financial instruments or budgetary guarantees and managed centrally by the Commission, as well as Aid for European Territorial Cooperation. This vote, based on Article 109 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) and subject only to a Council decision, allows these types of aid to be exempted from the obligation to notify the Commission before their entry into force, provided for in Article 108(3) TFEU. This is to improve the interaction between EU funding programmes and state aid rules. (LT)
