27/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – The permanent representatives of the Member States to the EU will discuss on 28 November a possible new hearing of Poland on the rule of law, while the Polish government has announced that it will propose amendments to the Supreme Court Law allowing the return of judges retired as a result of this Law, which entered into force in July and was temporarily suspended by the Court of Justice (see EUROPE 12121). This hearing would take place on 11 December in the General Affairs Council. The first Vice-President of the Commission, Frans Timmermans, had requested a new hearing on 12 November (see EUROPE 12135). The ambassadors will also discuss the Hungarian case on 28 November and how Member States can react to the documents presented on 12 November by the Hungarian government and the European Commission.
