27/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – In conclusions adopted without debate, the EU Council on Monday 26 November expressed its deep concern that more than 75 million children facing emergencies and protracted crises around the world do not have access to quality education and that 7.8 million displaced young people aged 18 to 24 experience an interruption in their education. The Council reaffirmed the EU's commitment to ensuring access to inclusive lifelong learning and to safe, equitable and quality education and training at all levels in situations of emergency and protracted crisis. It welcomes the comprehensive approach to education in these situations and points out that when education is interrupted, the EU is ready to support rapid response mechanisms in partnership with actors in the countries concerned.
