27/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – On Tuesday 27 November, the European Commission approved a French support measure for innovative solar power installations. At a cost of €600 million, this measure will support the deployment of 350 megawatts of additional generation capacity. It will take the form of a feed-in tariff or a premium on top of the market price for 20 years and will be provided to installations with a production capacity ranging from 100 kilowatts to five megawatts. Organisation of calls for tenders will continue into 2019. Noting that this measure will encourage the development of innovative solar renewable energies and will help France to meet its climate targets without unduly distorting competition in this market, the Commission considered it compatible with EU state aid rules.
