27/11/2018 (Agence Europe) – Seven consumer rights organisations that are members of the European Consumers' Organisation (BEUC) announced on Tuesday 27 November that they will file complaints against Google for violations of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) with their national authorities. They blame Google for the way it monitors the location of its users through functions integrated into all user accounts and without their consent. "Google's data hunger is notorious, but the scale with which it deceives its users to track and monetise their every move is breathtaking. Google is not respecting the fundamental principles of the GDPR, such as the obligation to use the data in a lawful manner," said BEUC Executive Director Monique Goyens, in a statement. (MF)
