17/10/2018 (Agence Europe) – The European Commission is preparing to organise a second call for applications under the DiscoverEU project, which allows 18-year-olds to travel free of charge across the continent. Interested parties will be able to submit their request from 29 November to 11 December and will receive a reply in mid-January 2019. The trip, lasting a maximum of 30 days, must take place between 15 April and 31 October 2019, mainly by train, possibly by bus and, exceptionally, by plane or ferry, for islanders. In total, the Commission intends to distribute 12,000 free tickets. This is the second call for applications organised by the European Commission; the first has already yielded these initial results as it enabled approximately 15,000 young people (according to Commission figures) to travel between 9 July and 30 September 2018.
