10/09/2018 (Agence Europe) – During a phonecall with Libya's Prime Minister al-Sarraj on Friday 7 September, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini underlined the EU's support for his work and for the government of national accord (GNA). The two leaders discussed the recent escalation of violence in and around Tripoli, and welcomed the UN-brokered ceasefire, "which is a promising first step to restore stability in the capital", according to a press release from the European External Action Service. Mogherini and al-Sarraj agreed to stay in close touch in the coming days and weeks, and Mogherini decided to include Libya on the agenda of the EU foreign ministers' meeting she will chair in the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York at the end of September.
