First post-financial bailout monitoring mission in Athens until Friday

10/09/2018 (Agence Europe)In Athens on Monday 10 September, representatives of the European institutions (European Commission, European Central Bank, European Stability Mechanism, and International Monetary Fund) started work in the framework of the first post-financial aid plan monitoring mission, which will continue until Friday 14 September. Readers may recall that Athens has been the subject of enhanced surveillance (until 2022) since it exited its third and final bailout plan on 20 August of this year (see EUROPE 12077). The institutions' representatives will hold exchanges with the Greek authorities on the implementation of the socio-economic reforms that Athens has undertaken to adopt and on the draft 2019 budget, which must be submitted by 15 October, as for all Eurozone states. An initial quarterly report will furthermore be published in November, when the Commission publishes its opinions on the draft budgets. (LT)
